#7- Half-Way Reflection

I think using technology within an Early Elementary Classroom can have so many benefits. I think the iMovie that we created would be a wonderful way to introduce yourself to your students and their parents. Also, if I am lucky enough to work within a school that has easy access to computers and the Internet, i will definitely make use of the different websites and online activities with my students. I feel that the only problem with using technology within the classroom is that it takes time. Creating the iMovie was not too difficult, but it definitely took time and patience. Most teachers that i talk to say that they would use more technology in their classroom if they had the time and energy to implement it. Overall, I feel that the most important lesson I have learned about is the iMovie because I believe that it can be used in so many different ways within the classroom.

Hello Kody,
What a great idea! Using an imovie to introduce ourselves to students and parents! I love that! I will definitely use as many websites and online activities with my students as is possible with our resources. You noted that many teachers would impliment technology into their classrooms if they had more time. That is just what the teacher I interviewed said. She said she has to worry about the students learning to read, not use computers. Although, she did have an activity or two that she did in her classroom. I hope to use technology a lot in my classroom. I belive the imovie can be used in lots of ways as well!

I think you make an important point in your blog. It all depends on access and availability. I think you also raise a good point about time. It does seem to take me longer to do my classwork for this class than other classes because you have the added on pressure of technology. It took me forever to do the imovie. Some people don't have the patience to work through the various problems technology can present. I do like what you had to say though.

I agree with you on how great the iMovie is. I think it's a great resource for the children to use as well as us as future teachers to use in our classrooms. I also agree with you on how great some of the websites are and what great resources we have available to us.

I think that your idea for using iMovie is wonderful! I had never thought about using it in that situation. I also feel that time is a large struggle with technology. Children will need time to learn to use the software and then need more time to use it to complete the project, as well as lots of assistance. The teacher I interviewed made the same comment you noted: she would like to use more technology in her classroom, the problem is, she has 30 students and 5 computers, so time is definately an issue. I think that this will be our largest issue with technology when we become teachers as well.

What a wonderful idea! I never thought of using the iMovie to introduce ourselves as teachers to the students and parents. I think both would be extremely impressed with that and perhaps see us as skilled teachers.

Kody,
I completely agree with the statement that you provided in your reflection. I believe that technology is a very important aspect to how we teach the children in the classrooms. We know that when we become teachers technology will be bombarding their lives. I believe that that IMOVIE was a very important thing to learn because we can really do some amazing things with this program and make the class more enjoyable. Something to ponder... if you are in a school that doesn't have computer or doesn't have high tech computers, anything really, how are you going to incorporate technology?
